Liberty Dogs Campus

Project Location: Reno, NV

Currently under construction just south of Downtown Damonte in Reno, Nevada, the Liberty Dogs™ Campus is evolving into a comprehensive and cutting-edge facility dedicated to empowering veterans through expertly trained service dogs. This ambitious project, envisioned by local philanthropists Dave and Cheryl Duffield and generously funded by their Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, will stand as a national beacon for veteran support and canine partnership. By providing these heroes with invaluable animal companions, Liberty Dogs™ will foster enhanced emotional and psychological well-being, leading to greater independence and more fulfilling lives.

The expansive 27-acre campus is thoughtfully designed to encompass all aspects of the service dog training process and the well-being of both veterans and dogs. The plans feature specialized training facilities, comfortable and safe dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and on-site accommodations for veterans participating in the intensive two-week training program. Furthermore, the campus will include a dedicated veterinary clinic building to ensure the health and wellness of the dogs, along with specialized whelping facilities to support the program’s growth. This comprehensive approach will allow Liberty Dogs™ to manage all critical aspects of their program in-house, ensuring the highest standards of care. The program will serve veterans from across the country, as well as local Nevada veterans through weekly training, all at no cost to them.

SWABACK is proud to contribute to the design of this vital campus, working alongside Animal Arts Design Studios to create a thoughtful and functional environment. The comprehensive plan includes specialized training facilities, comfortable and safe dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and on-site accommodations for veterans participating in the intensive training program.

Liberty Dogs™ embodies the core values of the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, focusing on making meaningful and lasting impacts in the lives of veterans with disabilities and championing companion animal well-being. This capstone program will offer a unique and supportive environment where veterans can forge deep bonds with their service dogs and gain the skills necessary for a more independent and enriched future. The anticipated opening of the Liberty Dogs™ Campus in 2026 marks an exciting milestone in providing crucial support to our nation’s veterans and their journey toward greater well-being.
