Landscape Architect
SWABACK Architects + Planners is a Scottsdale firm of architects, landscape architects, and planners. Vernon Swaback, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, founded the firm in 1978 on the belief that places should grow from the land and community they serve. That belief still guides our work in master planning, architecture, and landscape architecture.
The Role
We’re looking for a Landscape Architect to join our studio. You’ll work on resort communities, institutional campuses, and large-scale plans through every phase: concept, design, documentation, and construction. Landscape architecture here is not a layer added after the building. It shapes the plan from the first site visit.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Contribute to public and private projects from concept through construction
- Develop design approaches for projects ranging from a single courtyard to a community-scale plan
- Prepare detailed construction documents
- Work alongside architects, planners, and consultants as part of an integrated team
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Landscape Architecture
Three to five years of professional experience preferred
Software & Technical Skills
- Required: AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite
- Preferred: Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, Land F/X
- Hand drawing skills a plus

- Strong graphic and visual communication
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable working across disciplines
- A commitment to design that responds to its environment
